Quranic Course in Lebanon Aimed at Enhancing Skills of Qaris

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A specialized course has been launched in Lebanon to enhance the technical skills and Quranic knowledge of the country’s Quran reciters.

Titled Quran Reciters Assembly, it has been organized virtually by the Baalbek branch of the Tawjih and Irshad (guidance and counselling) Society of Lebanon.

A total of 19 qaris from different parts of the Arab country are takin the specialized course, which got underway on Tuesday.

Prominent Quranic figure Ahmed Shaker is the manager and Hajj Adil Khalil, a Lebanese expert in Tajweed who has served as member of panel of judges in various international Quran competitions, is the supervisor of the Quranic course.

In his remarks at the opening session, Adil Khalil said the lessons offered in the course will help the qaris to improve their level of recitation and their skills.

The Tawjih and Irshad Society is a charity institution founded in Lebanon in 1986 with the aim of raising generations based on Quranic principles and criteria and promoting Quranic values in the society.

It has 21 branches in different parts of Lebanon, including Beirut, Tyre, Baalbek, Hermel, and Nabatieh.

Teaching Quran at mosques, Islamic seminaries, and religious centers and launching centers for developing Quranic sciences are among the activities of the society.  

Lebanon is an Arab country in Western Asia. Muslims make up about 70 percent of the country’s population and some 30 percent of the people are Christian.
